Buildings contribute to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, so it makes sense to ensure they are energy efficient. To do that, the City of Edmonton has been participating in the BOMA BEST program since 2019, and continues to add additional BOMA BEST-certified buildings each year.
BOMA BEST is Canada’s largest environmental assessment and certification program for existing buildings, and it recognizes excellence in energy and environmental management and performance.
In 2023, eight City buildings received a BOMA BEST Silver award for Excellence in Energy and Environmental Performance:
• Integrated Processing Transfer Facility (IPTF)
• EPL Highlands
• EPL Mill Woods & Senior and Multicultural Centre
• Muttart Conservatory
• Confederation Leisure Centre & Arena
• Meadows Community Recreation Centre & Library
• Mill Woods Recreation Centre & Arena
• Ellerslie Fleet Services
