A large portion of our greenhouse gas emissions comes from buildings. That’s why the City of Edmonton has been participating in the BOMA BEST program since 2019 and continues to add additional buildings certified by BOMA BEST each year.
BOMA BEST is Canada’s largest environmental assessment and certification program for existing buildings and recognizes excellence in energy and environmental management and performance.
As part of participation in the program, 20 per cent of the City’s BOMA BEST-certified buildings are selected annually for verification by a third-party consultant to confirm and validate the certification level of these buildings. In 2022, Century Place, EPL Strathcona, Davies Fleet Services, and Centennial Transit Garage all received a BOMA BEST Silver award for excellence in energy and environmental performance.
