In the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Edmonton EXPO Centre served as a day drop-in and isolation shelter for vulnerable Edmontonians.
The EXPO Centre was proof of the ability of organizations small and big to come together for the greater good, and for the good of individual Edmontonians and neighbours in the region.
Now, as winter weather approaches, the City has announced that the Edmonton Convention Centre will be the site of a temporary 24-hour, seven-day-a-week pandemic accommodation space.
Work at the Convention Centre will draw on lessons learned at the EXPO Centre.
Here’s a video that tells the story of the Edmonton EXPO Centre during the community’s pandemic response. It’s a story of Edmonton.
Thanks for watching.
