ETS steps up physical distancing protection

Transit fares are suspended on bus, LRT and DATS in Edmonton until further notice.

Transfers are not being issued.

Unless a ramp is needed or a passenger requires the bus to kneel, passengers now board buses by the rear doors only.

“These changes improve the distancing concerns of patrons,” said Interim City Manager Adam Laughlin.

”Boarding at the back doors, and not having to issue transfers or collect fares, will keep our operators and customers safer and will streamline and speed up bus entry.”

Back of bus boarding and exiting supplements a recent decision to open LRT doors automatically on trains where technology allows, and in conditions where weather permits. Read and see more here

As well, to further enhance safety, ETS is close to having 100 per cent of the buses in service be those equipped with operator safety shields.

A quick reminder that LRT and buses are using an enhanced Saturday schedule until further notice. We also encourage regional travellers to double check their schedules and fares with their local transit provider.
