Edmonton is part of social, economic and environmental global systems that support our quality of life—systems that are being disrupted by climate change. The actions we take in our community have local and global impacts.
In fact, the majority of Edmontonians tell us they’re concerned about climate change and are ready to take action now. We have an opportunity to act locally to make us more resistant to the global impacts of climate change and protect our quality of life, health and economy. So let’s work together.
Change for Climate is a call to all Edmontonians to take action and work together to reduce our city’s greenhouse gas emissions by 35% (below 2005 levels) by 2035 and to prepare our homes and neighbourhoods from environmental risks and impacts of a changing climate.
In this section of Transforming Edmonton, you’ll find the latest events, community stories and climate change initiatives in Edmonton.
Together, we can turn this into a city-wide movement for a vibrant, resilient, low-carbon future.
If we don’t change something, climate will change everything
Each of us needs to change whatever we can, and we need to do it now.
Find out how taking action now could positively change our city forever.
How can I take action?
Discover the best ways to take action against climate change by using the ever-growing Actions for Change spectrum.
Actions have been rated by how much they can help reduce our GHG emissions, from lowest (1) to highest (5) impact.
Check for actions you’re already doing and then take them to the next level by committing to even higher impact ones!
Share your commitment on social media by selecting an action and using the hashtag #changeforclimate.
If you’re already creating change, or know someone who is, let us know for a chance to be featured in a future blog post.
